How Washington, D.C., hotels are embracing sustainability

The 5 Green-Key rated Fairmont Hotel in Washington, D.C., was the perfect setting for an event titled "Checking In as the Hospitality Industry Embraces Sustainability," hosted on March 30. The event, sponsored by the DC|MD chapter of NAIOP’s Sustainable Development Committee and the USGBC National Capital Region chapter, hosted three panelists who left no doubt that now is the time to pursue sustainability in hotels.  Click here to read the full article.

Why Google Makes Indoor Air Quality a Top Priority

Indoor air quality (IAQ) has been a popular green topic for decades, though few of us on the Tenant and Landlord sides feel empowered to take charge and make a change in our own buildings. Yet with increasingly longer hours that we spend indoors, this should be a top priority. 2nd Voices on Resilience Speaker Event Pushes the DC Region to ask “What can we be resilient to?”

BIM after Construction

This project involved the building of a new law center including classrooms and a conference space in a building that was originally built as an office building. The original building had no street presence on Massachusetts Avenue. The architect’s vision of opening not only the façade, but the floors to create a dramatic entry and gathering space was much easier to understand with the use of the BIM.  Click here to read the full article.
