Community Outreach Committee

The Community Outreach Committee manages the Chapter’s philanthropic activities.

The Chapter a six year relationship with Year Up National Capital Area. Year Up National Capital Area provides under-served young adults in the Metro area the opportunity to train for living-wage positions in the workforce. Year Up helps close the opportunity divide by ensuring that young adults gain the skills, experiences, and support to empower them to reach their potential through careers and higher education.

NAIOP DC I MD is an important contributor to the program through our annual Gear Up for Year Up event. Chapter membership donates an afternoon as the students rotate through a series of professional coaching seminars and individual mentoring sessions.  Coaches assist with résumé review, conduct practice interviews and help students develop professional networking skills.
Planning for the event begins in the fall.

The Chapter also makes a significant contribution to serving the hungry in our area through generous donations and promotion of  local organizations addressing food insecurity.

Chapter members are welcome to join this rewarding committee as we continue to support Year Up and consider other ways to make a difference in our community.
