Advocacy
NAIOP DC | MD monitors local and state legislation that impacts on the commercial real estate development industry. For over fifteen years, NAIOP has worked with the Suburban Maryland counties as well as with the Maryland General Assembly to advance the
interests of its members in such areas as infrastructure improvements, environmental regulatory policy and real estate taxes. NAIOP works with allied groups to support the passage of increased funding for transportation in suburban Maryland
and successfully defeated legislative attempts to impose a transfer tax on controlling interests in real estate and other taxes aimed at development.
NAIOP's DC | MD Chapter also monitors development issues in the District of Columbia. In its on-line newsletter, NAIOP outlines the key legislative and zoning issues in the District that impact on commercial development. In addition, the Chapter
coordinates with other organizations such as DCBIA, BOMA and ULI active in monitoring and addressing these issues.
NAIOP DC | MD members may contact our Legislative Committee Chair, Stacy Silber of Lerch, Early & Brewer, Chtd., at 301-841-3833 to respond to specific legislative questions.
